With the ubiquity of computers and desktop publishing programs like Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign, there really isn’t any reason why we shouldn’t all be typographically literate. After all, most of us communicate by typing text all day long. But while many of us can spot Comic Sans or Papyrus a mile away, there’s more to knowing about using text than recognizing a few fonts. To become a better designer and communicator, you’ll want to be sure you know how to use text and typography (and how NOT to use it!) Here’s my top 10 list or rules for using text:
