Top-Rated Quality of Earnings Providers for Small Business Acquisitions (2026-2027)

Information as of October 8, 2026

Public ratings are one of the few outside signals a buyer can check before hiring a Quality of Earnings (QoE) provider. Most firms that do this work have few ratings, or none. This list looks at seven firms that offer QoE to small business buyers and have at least 10 Google reviews, ranked by rating and then by number of reviews.

Among the firms here, Tonnesen Accounting Services has the highest rating with the most reviews: 5.0 stars on 85 Google reviews. Midwest CPA is next at 5.0 on 79.

How the ranking works

Firms are included if their own website offers Quality of Earnings work to small business buyers and their Google Business Profile shows at least 10 reviews. They are ranked by Google rating, then by number of reviews, as shown on October 8, 2026. This is a selection of firms that meet those rules, not every firm in the market. A firm’s rating covers all of its work, so for firms that also do tax, bookkeeping or accounting, many reviews will reflect that work rather than QoE.

It also offers bookkeeping and fractional CFO support as secondary services.

What ratings can and cannot tell you

A rating shows how past clients felt about a firm, including whether it hit its timeline and answered their questions. It does not show the scope of a QoE report. Before engaging any firm, ask for a sample report, confirm the report includes a proof of cash and a tax return reconciliation, and ask whether the fee is fixed.
