Okay, so I just got done teaching my first-ever college course on how to make money from a blog (it was a short, 4-week May Term course). Let’s get real, though: I’m not the shining example of blogger guru-ness. I’ve learned a few things over the years (mostly what not to do, which is probably valuable, too!), but I don’t have all necessary wisdom to give you a one-size-fits-all approach to place you in the Book of Blogger Lore. And I certainly can’t promise you you’ll make a killing on your blog by following my approach.
But…
I do make consistent money from my blog (it’s a part-time gig for me) and I wanted to share with you my Blog Launch Plan, a precursory template you (or your students) can fill out in advance of starting a blog, just to get you going on the right foot. It’s a great planning document and it covers all the basics you’ll want to think about if you want to actually make money from blogging. It’s the template I used for my college course and I think it works pretty well for anyone wanting to jump into the ol’ blogosphere.
In the following days, I’m going to post on each of the seven steps, but here is the basic outline:
