Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vs. the Flu: A Visual Guide

An important note from the author: On March 2, 2020, I published an infographic on this website that was intended to show the similarities and differences between COVID-19 and influenza. Some readers interpreted the graphic at that time to mean that we should not be taking COVID-19 seriously. That was never the intention of the graphic, but it was how many interpreted it. At that time, little was still known about the novel coronavirus and I admit that the graphic was made in poor judgment. Recognizing the rhetorical error, I quickly deleted the graphic two days later, on March 4, 2020 and made an formal apology on my Facebook page.

On March 5, I published a new graphic that was much clearer about COVID-19 and it was widely praised as being helpful, accurate, and informative.

Still, as we have learned much about the virus in just the three weeks since my initial post, it has become clear that the only appropriate source of information about COVID-19 should be coming from the medical experts, scientists, and public health professionals. I am none of those.

For this purpose, I have opted to permanently remove all graphics related to COVID-19 from this website.

Please stay informed about the virus by reading the updates on these credible websites:

I’m not saying that “COVID-19 should not be taken seriously”, but can we all agree that the media is seriously blowing the whole issue out of proportion?

Yes, we can. But, can we also say that’s because of the over-saturated information world we now live in where if you don’t shout like it’s the end of the world, no one notices.

The President or leader of the USA is putting out lies and that is why the media is picking up on the COVID-19. The USA has been late in testing so really we do not know who is infected and how many have actually died of this virus. The current leader of the USA does not know how to tell the nation the truth since he lies to us all the time. Americans like to believe the leader but we can not. The doctors and scientists in the CDC are not allow to speak unless it is approved by VP Pence. Since the flu and COVID-19 have similiar symtoms without testing who knows.

Everything she said is true. This president lies constantly and it’s dumb to believe a word that comes out of his mouth. He was calling this virus a hoax just the other day. It’s also true that we haven’t been testing enough people because we don’t have the tests and he cut all kinds of funding for the CDC and wiped out their pandemic response team, and yes it is also true that they are muzzling the CDC because they want to control the narrative.

Trump was desperately trying to keep this from affecting the stock market because the man realizes that the only reason a lot of people still support him is that their retirement accounts have been swelling. Everything the man does is for his own benefit, the people be damned.

I sure hope he gets his butt kicked in the next election. I would vote for a chimpanzee before him. He’s just going to get worse if he doesn’t have to worry about getting re-elected again. In the long run he is going to do great harm to this country and to the Republican Party. History will not be kind to him at all. He’s an incompetent corrupt bully, the shadiest president in US history, in way over his head.

        ActualPatriot,

Trump had the fastest response to the situation, so everything you’re saying it simply parroting the majority leftist-influenced media. Trump knows that if the economy plummets, the nation will also suffer greatly. While we need to be concerned for our physical well-being, we also have to be aware of how this can impact our financial livelihoods in the long-run.

There’s no way you would actually be happy for anyone else to be president over Trump, considering the alternatives we have right now. It doesn’t really matter anyway, because there’s absolutely no chance that he won’t win his second term, especially after this incident and despite how desperate the left wants to influence everyone’s votes with all of these false narratives.

Mar 16, 2020 and over 170,000 infected, 6,525 dead. We haven’t even begun to see the damage yet. You will all change your tune after this new virus has killed millions of people, primarily due to government inaction and their failure to protect the lives of its citizens. Check back in 2 weeks, even 4 weeks and let me know how its going.
