10 Critical Document Design Terms that Writers, Designers, and Communicators Need to Know
There are hundreds of important design terms that graphic and visual designers need to know to be good at their professions. But for the average writer/designer, you can probably get away with knowing fewer than that. At the very least, you’ll want to know come of the most important terms that define your document’s overall layout and color. Here’s my list of 10 document design terms any writer, designer, or communicator really shouldn’t go without knowing:


Word has had custom settings (not just single/double) “leading” for some time. At least v2007, but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t in 2003 (which I don’t have handy any longer).
