Not everyone has the right skills to take pictures even if one really wants to be a photographer. Photography is an art – something that cannot be aced by taking a couple of nice shots every other day. It’s not an overnight task to be a good photographer. It takes time, practice, and knowledge to do it the right way. Here in this article, we share eight mistakes that amateur photographers should not commit while perfecting their art.

Lighting/Flash

Every light has its own significance for a photographer. A moment with natural low lights and those with explosive light should be taken an advantage of by every photographer, regardless of his/her expertise level. Flash is mostly used during model or wedding shoots. Also, one should never shoot towards the sun, otherwise everything in your picture will be dull & dark except if that is the objective.

Never Using the Zoom

It’s surprising that people think cropping pictures is the best choice even when zooming in/out is certainly a better option. Zooming in and shooting than to cropping pictures is preferred as the image will turn out sharper and not pixelated.

Too Much Centering

Keep in mind the rule of thirds in photography. Centering puts on a show of being unnatural and unreal, so one should avoid it whenever possible. Keeping your pictures’ main focus to the side is much appreciated in most situations.

Not Cleaning the Lens

It is definitely an unexciting job that many amateur photographers might forget to do. Not cleaning the lens will distort photos and will not turn out the way you want.

Over Editing

This is the time when everybody supposes they are prime photographers; well to think so, you’re off-base! An excessive amount of editing will result in the picture to look unappealing to the eye and exceptionally worked out. If you want to edit an image, work on its small areas and leave it as is. Also, just keep in mind that not every image has to edit the same way. You don’t have to brighten or darken every picture you take.

Shutter Speed

Everybody overlooks this option on his or her camera! Shutter speed controls how sharp/fresh the picture will appear after being shot. The quicker the shutter, the crisper the picture. This lone applies to specific circumstances so don’t depend on a fast shutter in case of every picture.

Avoid Clutter

A lot in a photograph can be exceptionally unattractive. Sometimes it’s just too diverting, irritating, and befuddling. The way out is to keep a main focal point and make that prominent with everything else in the background blurred or simply disappeared. If you want to capture someone standing in a bustling side road, choose the slightest occupied space of the area, only allowing a little group to shape without it appearing like a riot.

Sticking to the Same Angles

Change your angles!!! Just know that not everything can be shot from the same angle. Take a stab at bouncing, lying down, deliberately standing straight, or looking up and down, etc.
