Great Content Ideas to Introduce Variety to Your Blog

Writing a blog is not as easy as it may seem. Even if you have writing skills, it may be difficult to come up with enough content to keep an audience interested. Moreover, if you start posting on a schedule and build expectations, failing to meet these expectations will also result in readers losing interest.

If you are blogging for fun or as a way to express yourself, these issues may not seem like that much of a problem. However, if the blog is your primary source of income, losing readers will spell trouble.

There should still be some topics that you have not covered yet. Or maybe you have not bothered thinking outside of the box? Check the ideas below for some inspiration.

Idea #1 – Include Videos

Video content may seem unfitting in certain blogs, but if it is relevant to the topic, posting something other than just words does not sound like that bad of an option.

For the most part, you should be able to embed videos directly from most video platforms. If such an option is unavailable, use a video downloader to download a video and reupload it to a website that allows you to embed a video on your blog. 

If you decide to create videos from scratch, be prepared to spend time learning video editing or hiring a freelancer. 

Idea #2 – Dive Into a Different Topic

If your blog is about ways to make money on the internet, posting about what extracting sound via a vocal remover is like or how machine learning is changing our lives may seem like a preposterous idea as the content is irrelevant.

However, the idea of diving into a different type of topic may not be that far-fetched. Maybe there is room on your blog to explore other ideas and write what you find interesting? 

After all, you may be running out of topics to cover in your niche, and taking a more personal approach on the blog could prove beneficial. 

In case you do not want to clutter the main page, create a separate section where you post unrelated content. Make it a free zone of sorts, and let your creativity run wild. Readers who do not wish to read those articles can ignore them, and those who want can check them out.

Idea #3 – Review Products

Product reviews are a good way to make extra money on your blog. However, that should not be a primary objective for the moment.

You want to focus on content quality and variety. When you are writing reviews, do not be obvious that you are trying to sell goods or services. 

The audience you have built over the years may not tolerate a blatant attempt to promote products. On the other hand, if you provide genuine insight, they may appreciate it. It would also help if you did not include a URL that links to a seller’s store. 

Idea #4 – Create a Tutorial

Similar to product reviews, tutorials are another type of content that introduces variety and gives your readers another reason to visit the website regularly.

Online education is becoming more popular, and the trend has been around before the pandemic. It is not just students who are stuck at home and have to learn remotely.

Adults are eager to improve their repertoire by learning new skills. Advancing in their current job or switching careers is challenging if the competition has a better portfolio, experience, or references from previous work. But if you learn a new skill, the odds of advancing in ranks become higher.

Idea #5 – Post Infographics

You must have seen infographics on social media and other blogs. Infographics are visually appealing and easy to digest. 

Instead of reading an article, a person can see the most important points on an infographic by going from point A to point B. The combination of written words and visual elements presents information in a compelling fashion and encourages readers to spend more time on your blog.

Idea #6 – Publish User-Generated Content

Speaking of blog readers, have you thought about publishing user-generated content? You could announce a contest on your social media profiles or directly on the blog and tell how you are receiving article submissions from readers.

Publishing articles from your readers will introduce a different kind of variety to the blog content. Besides, if you make this a regular thing, you can expect more participants in the future, especially if there is something extra for them, like a small prize.

Idea #7 – Get Ideas from Social Media and Google Trends

A writer’s block is common among both professional and amateur writers. If you struggle to come up with ideas, find out what is trending.

Google Trends is a good source for the latest hot topics. Social media is also worth giving a shout, but not just platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Quora and Reddit are also worth checking regularly.
