Why Your Business isn’t Making as Many Sales as it Could Be
Do you feel as though your business is not making as many sales as it could be? If so then now’s the chance to do something about that. If you don’t take action now then you may find that the issue only gets worse with time and this is the last thing you want.
You’re Marketing
Marketing is great, but if you are always marketing and not selling then this could work against you. If you can, you need to reach out to networking contacts and you also need to take note of what it is you are trying to sell. You also need to discuss your current offerings, your pricing, the next steps, and the various services you offer. If your meeting is to try and introduce what it is you offer or to try and reconnect in general then this is a marketing call. Although this is important, you do need to make sure that you are pushing sales too. Assess the meetings you have had and be honest about which ones you were trying to push sales through. Make sure that you are honest about which ones you are working with and also take the time to refine your process. If you can do this then you should find that you can make more money and that you are also able to get the result you want.
You’re Targeting the Wrong Buyer
Reaching out to a lot of people is impressive but at the end of the day, if they’re not part of your target market or if they are not possible buyers for what you are trying to sell then this could work against you. If you want to do something about this, you need to look at who you are talking to. If you are just explaining your services or connecting with people who aren’t potential buyers then this isn’t a bad thing, but if this is the case then you may find that you are just marketing, rather than selling. If you want to do something about this then you need to refine your contact list and put those who have a need or interest in what you have to offer, first. You can then create a sales pipeline and funnel, so you can refine the way that you work moving forward.
You’re Not Reaching Out to the Right People
When you gradually whittle down your list to those who have a need or an interest, you may find that you edge closer to making a sale. This is great but at the same time, you have to make sure that you are talking with the decision maker. If your friend in HR handles all the training and you sell training courses then this is great. If they are not the decision maker however then this pushes things back and you will have to do a lot of work to get the sale you’re looking for. One way to work around this would be for you to go through your contact list and make sure that you take note of those who need authority to buy, and those who don’t. Again, put those who have authority first, so you can make sure you’re always targeting the right people.
It’s Hard for People to Buy
If you’re making it hard for people to buy then this will also work against you. If you have a long checkout process or if you don’t accept cards then this is a major downfall for your business. If you want to help yourself then one thing you can try is look into credit card processing equipment. You also need to make sure that you take the time to assess your process and to make sure that you always take note of what you can do to make it better. Listen to customer feedback too, as they will often tell you where you are going wrong along with some ideas as to how you could improve your process. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to not only get the result out of your business but for you to also make sure that you are not compromising your business model by not being aware of what it is your customers need.
You Haven’t Automated Your Systems
In this day and age when it comes to running a business you need to stay ahead of the times. The last thing you want is to fall behind as this means your competitors are flying ahead of you at full speed. They will be the ones to gain all your customers because their service and handling is much quicker than yours. There are some aspects of your business that you could automate, like sending invoices for example. You could also go digital with most things making your life easier as well as your customers. For instance, carry out a supply chain digital transformation. This puts less pressure on you as a company trying to find the right suppliers and shipping your products.
So if you can make these changes then you will soon find that it is easier to make more sales. You may also find that you can make a major difference to your company, which is always a good thing
